We exist to close the gender gap in technology.
Women and girls are still underrepresented across technology, and Black women and girls face some of the largest gaps of all. TechnovateHer exists to change that, with a focus on the communities most often left out, by creating a friendly, welcoming space where curiosity is the only thing you need to get started.

To empower women and girls, with a focus on Black women and girls, to confidently learn, build, and lead in technology by providing accessible, hands-on education, meaningful mentorship, and advocacy that opens more tech spaces to women and girls and champions their potential.

Why we exist
Technology shapes almost every part of our lives, from how we work and learn to how we communicate, shop, and make decisions. Yet the people building that technology still do not reflect the people using it. Women remain badly underrepresented across the tech industry, and the numbers are even starker for Black women and girls, who face some of the largest gaps of all.
The gap is not just in one corner of tech. It shows up in artificial intelligence, in the apps and websites we use every day, in data and analytics, in product and UX design, in the systems that run our devices, and in the rooms where decisions get made. When women and girls are missing from those spaces, the technology that comes out of them is weaker, less fair, and built for fewer people. We want to change that picture.
TechnovateHer exists to change that. We are a federally incorporated non-profit based in Ontario, governed by a board of directors and led by a dedicated staff, with volunteers and facilitators who help carry the work forward. Together we create friendly spaces where women and girls, especially Black women and girls who have been left out of tech, can explore the full range of what technology has to offer, from AI and machine learning to building apps and websites, working with data, and design. We help them build their confidence, see what is possible, and discover where they fit. Beyond our workshops, we advocate for greater representation of women in tech spaces, working to open doors and shift the industry toward one where women and girls are seen, valued, and leading. You bring curiosity, and we meet you where you are.
Change grows with every person who joins. Every woman or girl who walks through our doors, asks a question, or builds something for the first time helps shift the picture, and we would love for you to be part of it.

More than workshops
Our work does not stop at the classroom door. We advocate for greater representation of women and girls in tech spaces, pushing for workplaces, schools, and communities where they are welcomed, supported, and given real opportunities to lead. A board of directors governs the organization, and our staff, volunteers, and facilitators carry the work forward alongside a community of partners and supporters.
